Client: Uniper

Location: Cottam Development Centre Power Station

Service: Engineering-led compliance inspections

Challenge

Uniper required a full suite of edge protection and handrail compliance inspections at the Cottam Development Centre Power Station to ensure all access areas met safety and design standards. The project needed a reliable partner capable of interpreting complex client procedures and national standards, while delivering efficient, large-scale inspection reporting.

Our approach

Amrose Associates deployed qualified structural engineers to interpret Uniper’s inspection procedures and relevant design codes.

We developed a bespoke inspection methodology, including detailed planning, asset tagging for traceability, and a structured approach to documenting compliance.

Non-compliant handrails were risk-assessed and categorised based on severity, with clear, practical remedial recommendations provided for each issue.

Outcome

Our engineering-led process enabled reliable, large-scale compliance checks with:

•Clear, structured reporting for ongoing asset management

•Improved auditability and data traceability

•Risk-based prioritisation for future maintenance and upgrades

Result: A fully traceable and compliant inspection system delivering clarity, efficiency and confidence for Uniper’s asset safety programme.
