John founded Amrose in early 2024, building on more than 20 years of experience in the construction engineering industry across both contractor and consultancy roles.

Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation as a highly respected and trusted industry professional, known for his technical excellence, practical insight, and leadership across complex and challenging projects.

A Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, John brings a uniquely integrated approach to engineering—combining deep mechanical expertise with structural insight. His experience spans all sectors of the construction industry, from major infrastructure and transport to energy and industrial decommissioning.

John’s leadership at Amrose reflects his commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation in engineering delivery.

John says: “The two things I love most about running Amrose are, firstly, leading our team of fantastically capable and committed engineers to deliver engineering solutions to our clients with a level of quality that not only exceeds expectations but is also reliably delivered on time.

Secondly, I personally enjoy developing solutions that are not only innovative but also practical—especially in complex industrial settings where mechanical and heavy structural engineering meet.

A personal favourite project was the bottom-up demolition of a 6,000-tonne reinforced frame at Ferrybridge C Power Station, located on an elevated piled raft in the middle of the River Aire. It was the perfect example of complex interface engineering, and exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy.”

Duncan brings over 25 years of consultancy experience in civil and structural engineering, with a specialist focus on the design, assessment, and refurbishment of industrial structures throughout the UK. His portfolio also includes significant contributions to commercial and retail developments, showcasing a broad and versatile engineering skill set.

Throughout his career, Duncan has played a pivotal role in providing critical structural design support and leading initiatives aimed at maintaining the ongoing integrity of industrial infrastructure. His work frequently involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, where he helps to uphold the highest standards of safety, performance, and long-term reliability.

With a practical, problem-solving approach and a commitment to engineering excellence, Duncan contributes a depth of expertise and a meticulous attention to detail to every project. His work is grounded in a respect for the built environment and a passion for seeing designs brought to life.

Duncan says: “What I find most fulfilling in my role at Amrose is working with a highly skilled, collaborative team to solve complex structural challenges and seeing those projects come to life at completion”.

Andrew joined Amrose in September 2024 following 5 years of experience in temporary works and structural design. Experienced in novel and bespoke design solution, Andrew has developed a holistic understanding of design principles, tools and practical implementation to solve complex engineering problems. 

Through his experience in Temporary Works Coordination, Andrew always aims to tailor his design approach to best suit contractor objectives through clear communication and a proactive approach to problem solving. Coupling his technical acumen with practical and logistical construction understanding, Andrew ensures that the solution proposed is the right one for the job.

With his experience spanning civil engineering sectors including demolition, rail, highways, earthworks and structures, Andrew is keen to apply himself to any project to ensure clients receive the quality engineering deliverables they learn to expect from Amrose.

Josef is a Principal Engineer at Amrose Associates, having joined the team in February 2025. With over 10 years of experience in the civil engineering industry, he brings a well-rounded background in both consultancy-based design roles and on-site Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) positions.

Since graduating in 2015, Josef has specialised in Temporary Works, delivering safe, efficient, and innovative solutions across a diverse range of construction projects. His experience includes complex design and coordination work, both in the UK and internationally, including challenging site-based roles in the Middle East that have strengthened his practical insight and adaptability.

Josef holds a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), reflecting his commitment to technical excellence and professional standards.
At Amrose, Josef leads the delivery of Temporary Works design services, collaborating closely with clients to provide bespoke, cost-effective solutions that enhance buildability and minimise project risk.

Josef remains passionate about advancing the construction industry through innovation and continuous learning. He actively participates in professional networks and keeps abreast of emerging technologies and best practices.

Michael has three years’ experience working in temporary works design consulting. He has delivered designs from inception to completion for projects of varying sizes and across many sectors within the construction industry, always to a high standard of technical and practical excellence.

Michael says:

“For me, the best thing about working at Amrose is being part of a team of highly competent engineers, where everyone is able to work together to converge on a practical solution that suits the clients’ needs.

My favourite thing about being an engineer is the variety and complexity that comes with each project. One project that stands out to me is Wentedge Bridge, where I developed the designs for replacing the central pier… all while the A1 remained in use.”

With over 13 years of experience in corporate office environments, Imogen brings a high level of professionalism, precision, and organisational expertise to her role as Business Support Manager at Amrose Associates. Holding an LLB Law degree, she combines strong analytical skills with a thorough understanding of business operations and compliance.

Her background in legal studies and administrative management allows her to support the consultancy’s technical teams efficiently, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and that client service is consistently delivered to a high standard. Known for her attention to detail, proactive approach, and ability to manage multiple priorities, Imogen plays a vital role in maintaining the structure and reliability of our internal processes.
