Q: Can you tell us a little about your background?

I’ve spent more than 35 years working across construction and engineering, covering precast concrete manufacturing, concrete frame contracting, demolition and temporary works design. I’ve held a range of senior technical and director-level roles and have always enjoyed working at the interface between engineering, leadership and business operations.

Q: What attracted you to working with Amrose Associates?

Amrose Associates is an outstanding engineering business with a strong technical reputation and a very clear set of values. There’s a real focus on quality, people and doing things properly. The opportunity to support a business like this at a strategic level felt like a good fit for my experience and interests. This is also a very exciting period for the company, with some significant projects underway and on the horizon where my perspective can add real value.

Q: What will your role involve?

My role is strategic. I’ll be providing board-level advice on industry trends, market opportunities, business operations, diversification and strategic recruitment. I’ll also support business development through my network and, where needed, act as a senior technical sounding board on complex or novel projects.

Q: Will you be involved in technical delivery?

Not in routine delivery. My involvement will be high-level, offering technical leadership, construction or demolition methodology advice and strategic direction where projects present unusual or complex challenges.

Q: What do you see as the key challenges and opportunities in the industry?

The industry is facing increasing complexity and this is coming from a whole host of things, such as regulation, safety expectations, skills shortages and commercial pressures. At the same time, there’s a real opportunity for well-led, technically strong consultancies to differentiate themselves through quality, clarity and collaboration.

Q: What are you most passionate about professionally?

I’m particularly passionate about staff development, inclusion and improving processes. Strong engineering outcomes come from well-supported people working within clear, well-thought-out systems.

Q: What do you hope to bring to Amrose Associates?

Perspective and experience. The company has an excellent team and a mindset for growth. Having worked across different parts of the industry, I hope to help them hone their strategic skills even further, navigate challenges with confidence and continue building a business that’s both technically excellent and a great place to work.
